02 / PROFESSIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS
I hold a Level 3 Certificate in Fire Risk Assessment awarded through the Fire Protection Association (FPA) and a Diploma in Door Systems (DipDS), alongside completing a range of professional development courses with the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI).
I serve as Vice Chair of the Intumescent Fire Seals Association (IFSA), contributing to industry initiatives that promote the correct specification, application and performance of intumescent fire protection products. I have also contributed to technical information sheets highlighting the importance of intumescent hardware protection in maintaining the integrity of fire-resisting doorsets.
In addition, I have developed a RIBA-approved CPD presentation on intumescent hardware protection for the GAI’s continuing professional development programme. Through delivering this presentation to numerous GAI hubs across the UK, I have helped raise awareness of the role of hardware protection in passive fire safety and the importance of evidence-based product specification.
03 / TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
I have extensive practical experience in passive fire protection, with particular expertise in fire doors, intumescent hardware protection and the performance of intumescent materials under fire conditions. During my time at Vanquish Hardware Protection, I have evaluated and tested a wide range of intumescent compounds, developing a detailed understanding of their expansion characteristics, performance properties and suitability for different applications.
My experience includes designing fire test configurations, preparing technical drawings and schedules, and supporting product development in accordance with internationally recognised fire resistance standards, including EN 1634-1. I have attended numerous fire tests at laboratories across the UK and Europe, gaining valuable first-hand insight into fire test procedures, product performance and the factors that influence the integrity of fire-resisting doorsets.
Through my professional training with the GAI, I have also developed a strong understanding of architectural ironmongery, door hardware, access control systems and the relevant industry standards. This knowledge enables me to consider the interaction between hardware components, door construction and passive fire protection when supporting product development and technical decision-making.
Alongside my fire protection expertise, I oversee the production of Vanquish’s extruded graphite intumescent products, with responsibility for maintaining high standards of manufacturing quality and product consistency. I have developed substantial knowledge of extrusion processes, tooling design and material development, including the evaluation of different polymer and intumescent formulations to optimise processing characteristics and end-product performance.
By combining practical manufacturing experience with fire testing, material development and industry engagement, I bring a comprehensive, application-led approach to the development of reliable and effective passive fire protection solutions.
04 / ABOUT HENRY
One of my biggest passions is food, having been in the catering and restaurant industry for ten years before and during my time at university, I have honed my skills in the kitchen and enjoy cooking for friends and family outside of work. In addition to my Physics degree, I completed a Level 2 Ski Instructor qualification in Zermatt in 2023, and I adore being in the mountains. I also enjoy countryside pursuits such as shooting, fly fishing, and golf.
